Jenna Paulette & Her New Album “The Girl I Was”

Talk about an epic journey, I have been listening to Jenna Paulette since her first single hit the airwaves. With the release of her first full length album, it’s clear this Cowgirl is going places.

I discovered Jenna listening to the “Cowgirl Problems” podcast with Courtenay DeHoff. Courtenay played her single, “Wild Like the West” to open the podcast where Jenna spoke of being a girl from Texas, growing up in a ranching family and having this big dream of singing.

This past October I took a trip to Weatherford, Texas for the Fancy Lady Cowgirl event Courtenay puts on. Let me tell you, Jenna previewed a couple of songs off her new album for us and I was in TEARS when she played, “The Girl I Was.” I have been (not so) patiently waiting for the album to come out ever since.

Jenna also was a speaker at the event, sharing her story with us. Cowgirl to her core, she spoke of trying to keep her feet in Texas on the family ranch while also working her way through Nashville to get her music career off the ground. Split between two worlds and it appears to be paying off for Jenna.

When her new album finally dropped March 31, you best believe I hit play and listened to it 3 (or more) times in a row. The song, “Sun Keeps Comin’ Back Up” was an immediate stand out to me. I was recently dating a guy and really excited about where things were going (which is super rare for me). While I’m not going to air out my dirty laundry, it ended and I was left realing. Jenna’s song “Sun Keeps Comin’ Back Up” is probably the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard about getting over someone. It’s what my heart and soul needed to carry me through the hurt and the heartache.

So if you have not already, go listen to Jenna’s new album. You can find it anywhere you get your music from. I cannot wait to catch her live (hopefully) this summer.
